Environmental Education: Introducing Carbon Sequestration Services of the Halu Oleo University Botanical Garden to Students of SD Negeri 92 Kendari

This service activity aims to Introducing the function of the UHO Botanical Garden ecosystem as a carbon sink, Increasing students' understanding of the relationship between vegetation and climate change, Fostering an attitude of environmental care through interactive learning methods. The method of this service activity includes The initial stage is the preparation stage, which begins with a survey of the location of the botanical garden which is the object of service. coordination with the school that will be invited to the UHO Botanical Garden, namely communicating with the Principal and Homeroom Teacher to develop a visit plan, including determining the time, number of participants, and topics to be discussed. Preparation of materials from each team, namely material on environmental services, non-timber forest products (NTFPs) and material on orchid ecotourism, the formation of a team of servants consisting of teachers, botanical garden staff, and lecturers to accompany students during activities. This service activity was carried out on April 24, 2025 at the UHO Botanical Garden. The participants consisted of 28 fifth grade students and 2 teachers of SDN 92 Kendari, the head and staff of the botanical garden and the service team totaling 19 people. This activity succeeded in increasing students' knowledge about plant conservation, the role of botanical gardens in regulating microclimate, and the importance of environmental conservation.
