OPEN ACCESS POLICY

Open Access Policy

Journal of Tropical Mycorrhiza (JTM) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal published by the Indonesian Mycorrhizal Association (Asosiasi Mikoriza Indonesia). The journal is committed to promoting the global dissemination of scientific knowledge through unrestricted access to high-quality research in mycorrhizal biology, plant–fungal interactions, soil microbiology, sustainable agriculture, forestry, biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration.

JTM supports the principles of open scholarly communication, scientific transparency, knowledge sharing and equitable access to research findings.

1. Open Access Statement

Journal of Tropical Mycorrhiza provides immediate open access to its published scientific content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Readers may access, read, download and share published articles without subscription fees or mandatory registration.

The journal aims to remove financial and technical barriers to accessing scholarly publications and encourages the responsible dissemination of scientific knowledge among researchers, educators, students, policymakers, practitioners and the wider public.

2. Open Access Publishing Model

JTM adopts a Gold Open Access publishing model, under which published scholarly articles are made freely and immediately accessible through the journal's official website.

The journal does not impose an embargo period on access to published articles.

The availability of full-text publications is independent of institutional subscriptions or individual reader payments.

Any article processing charges, if applicable, are disclosed separately in the journal's Article Processing Charges Policy.

3. Copyright and Author Rights

Authors retain copyright in their original scholarly works, subject to the publication agreement applicable to their articles.

Authors grant Journal of Tropical Mycorrhiza a non-exclusive right of first publication and permission to identify the journal as the original publisher.

Authors may distribute and reuse their published work in accordance with the applicable publication licence and relevant third-party rights.

4. Creative Commons Publication Licence

Under the proposed licensing arrangement, articles published in JTM are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International Licence (CC BY-SA 4.0).

The licence permits users to:

  • Copy and redistribute licensed material in any medium or format.

  • Download and share published scientific articles.

  • Adapt, transform and build upon the licensed material.

  • Reuse material for educational, research, commercial or non-commercial purposes.

Users must provide appropriate attribution, link to the licence and indicate whether changes have been made.

Adapted material that is shared must be distributed under the same or an officially compatible licence.

Users must not impose additional restrictions that prevent others from exercising the rights granted by the licence.

The licence terms are available at:

https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/

5. Rights of Readers and Users

Readers are permitted to access and use published content in accordance with the applicable Creative Commons licence.

Permitted activities include:

  1. Reading and downloading full-text articles.

  2. Printing and sharing articles for scholarly purposes.

  3. Citing and referencing published research.

  4. Incorporating appropriately attributed material into educational resources.

  5. Depositing and sharing licensed articles through repositories and scholarly platforms.

  6. Translating or adapting licensed content while fulfilling the relevant licence conditions.

Third-party content identified as excluded from the article's Creative Commons licence may require separate permission.

6. Self-Archiving and Repository Policy

JTM supports the responsible self-archiving of scholarly publications.

Authors may deposit their submitted, accepted or published manuscripts in institutional repositories, disciplinary repositories, personal academic websites or other suitable scholarly platforms, subject to applicable publishing agreements and rights.

When depositing the published version, authors should provide appropriate citation details and a link to the original journal publication.

The journal encourages the use of repositories that support reliable metadata, persistent identification and long-term accessibility.

7. Open Access and Publication Ethics

The journal's open-access publishing model does not compromise the independence or integrity of its editorial process.

Manuscripts are evaluated according to scientific quality, originality, methodological rigour, relevance and ethical compliance.

Editorial decisions must remain independent of financial arrangements, institutional relationships or commercial interests.

Payment of an article processing charge, where applicable, does not guarantee manuscript acceptance.

8. Research Data Accessibility

JTM encourages authors to make supporting research data accessible where legally, ethically and practically appropriate.

Authors should provide a Data Availability Statement describing how supporting datasets can be accessed or explaining legitimate restrictions.

Restrictions may be necessary for confidential information, intellectual property, protected biological resources or conservation-sensitive geographical data.

Open access to an article does not automatically require unrestricted access to all underlying research data.

9. Digital Preservation and Long-Term Accessibility

JTM recognises the importance of preserving published scientific content for future generations.

The journal is committed to maintaining accurate publication metadata, protecting digital content and developing appropriate backup and preservation arrangements.

Participation in external digital preservation networks or repositories should be publicly identified once the relevant services have been formally implemented and verified.

10. Accessibility and Scholarly Dissemination

The journal aims to support broad access to research regardless of geographical location, institutional affiliation or economic circumstances.

Published articles are made available electronically through the journal's official website:

https://journal.ami-ri.org/index.php/JTM

JTM encourages the responsible sharing of published research through scholarly repositories, academic networks, educational institutions and other appropriate communication channels.

11. Article Processing Charges and Reader Fees

Readers are not required to pay subscription or access fees to obtain published articles.

Article processing charges, if applicable, are governed by the journal's separately published Article Processing Charges Policy.

The journal is committed to transparency concerning publication charges and associated editorial procedures.

12. Policy Transparency and Review

The journal will periodically review its Open Access Policy to maintain consistency with developments in scholarly communication, copyright licensing and responsible publication practices.

Changes to the journal's standard publication licence must be clearly communicated and must respect the licensing terms already granted for previously published articles.

13. Final Statement

Journal of Tropical Mycorrhiza (JTM) is committed to promoting open access, equitable knowledge dissemination, academic freedom and responsible scientific communication.

Through its open-access publishing practices, the journal seeks to strengthen international research collaboration, increase the visibility of mycorrhizal science and support the sustainable advancement of agriculture, forestry and environmental research.
